Saturday, May 4 Carol Rood, Teresa Morris, and I met at Sandy's to decorate sugar cookies for Mother's Day. The weather was anything but spring like--cold and rainy. Sandy had a hen mallard (Lily) nesting in one of her planters by her front door--she had two eggs laid. We had a great time decorating cookies and have made plans to get together for patriotic cookies for the 4th of July.
I finished my Bonnie Hunter 'Star Struck' Quilt. I started it in September, 2011 when Bonnie came to the Walnut Valley Quilt Guild to do a workshop. I finished piecing it the summer of 2012, and Sally quilted it in January 2013. I thoroughly enjoyed working with a complete hodge podge of fabrics. I had always wanted to do a true scrap quilt. It's got a lot of pieces and was very fun to do.

Here it is April 10th, and the peach tree had just started to bloom really well. I've heard it said that ice can protect the blooms from freezing--I guess we will find out! The only problem is that it is supposed to get down to 25 degrees tonight, which I'm afraid will be too cold to get any benefit of the coat of ice. We sure had a great crop of peaches last summer--maybe next year.

Free Motion Machine Sewing!
Last week I experimented with a piece of burlap and trying to do free motion machine embroidery on it. I liked how it turned out and it was a lot of fun to do. I got the burlap from Ron and his goose blanket endeavors. I would like to use it on the side of a tote bag.
